2016 is shaping up to be a year Ro James will always remember, with a majority of the #blessed caption-worthy moments stemming from one key word: ELDORADO.
This year, the RCA singer’s debut studio album has taken him across the map and back, earning him new fans at pop-up performances around Essence Festival, Heineken Green Room and his good friend BJ the Chicago Kid’s tour, several pre-album shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas and supporting slots on international tours with Maxwell and Mary J. Blige.
And while the worldly singer—Ro has had addresses in Germany, New York, Indiana, Texas, Hawaii, Oklahoma and Los Angeles—has made quite the splash on the radio and Billboard charts, this is just the beginning. “They told me that singing R&B was dead, that I should try auto-tune and that R&B wasn’t a genre that was going to make money anymore,” he says. “What, do you want me to prove it to you right now? Okay, I got you.”
Here, Ro James serenades us with two of his favorite songs off ELDORADO, “A.D.I.D.A.S.,” the first song he freestyled, and “Permission,” the seductive single that officially put him on the map and secured his spot on the playlists of the masses.
