Philly singer-songwriter Son Little — a.k.a. Aaron Livingston —brought the late afternoon Sasquatch! crowd to pin-drop silence, preaching his gospel via his stripped bare acoustic set on the VIBE stage in the Toyota Music Den. We captured a haunting and heartfelt performance of “Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches” from Little’s self-titled Anti-Records debut LP. While Livingston trades on his Philly soul upbringing, the album shares more in common with Delta blues, as Livingston sings of rivers, floods and loser’s blues. On “Your Love Will Blow Me Away Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches,” Little delivers a mournful lament; a raw and ragged missive to love lost. Stripped of backing percussion, the set was haunting yet uplifting. As fans approached sheer exhaustion from the four day weekend, Livingston’s laments had the crowd shuffling slowly, eyes closed in rapture as they could feel his pain.
