Soulja Boy may have given fans a series of hilarious memes thanks to his previous comments about influencing just about all of the current rappers in hip-hop, but there was definitely some truth behind his declarations. A$AP Rocky recently sat down with Los Angeles radio station 92.3 on Jan. 31, where he credited Soulja for influencing his career.
“If it wasn’t for Soulja Boy, ASAP Rocky probably wouldn’t be around,” Rocky said, also saluting Kanye and Pharrell for helping him find his way in the fashion industry.
Rocky added: “He kinda made a formula. He was the first to do it and it work for him and since then I think that kind of became a basis of a standard way to make it.”
Rocky’s latest interview comes nearly two weeks after Soulja Boy made a surprise appearance at the 2019 Yams Day. Unfortunately, Rocky didn’t get to chop it up with the rapper however, as he was to busy dealing with people backstage. “I never met him yet,” Rocky admitted. “He showed up to Yams Day and, unfortunately, I was in the back cursing out some sound people.”
