Actress and body positive actvist Jameela Jamil got some things off her chest on Saturday (Nov. 24).
Triggered by a reoccurring trend set by the Kardashians, gym guru’s and other social media influencers, Jamil spoke out about the harmful effects of promoting detox teas and called out Cardi B for her unlikely advocacy.
“They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense ‘detox tea'” she wrote over a screenshot of Cardi’s Teami Blends tea ad. “GOD I hope all these celebrities all s**t their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do.”
Jamil is best known for her role as Tahani Al-Jamil and creator of the iWeigh movement, a platform dedicated to boosting self-esteem and body positivity.
In the video clip, Cardi credits her four-month postpartum body to Teami tea’s special appetite-curbing and metabolism-quickening blend. “Even though I lost a lot of weight, I’m still gonna drink Teami when I eat a lot of fattening foods and late night snacks” said Cardi.
However, according to Jamil, Cardi B does not use Teami Blends (or any other detox tea). Instead, Jamil accuses Cardi and other celebrities for fraudulently promoting a product that they don’t use in order to heighten their paycheck.
“If you want to “curb your appetite” eat some damn green vegetables or have some nutritious natural vegetable soup” writes Jamil. “Don’t drink these “detox” teas. You need fiber! Not something that honestly just makes you have diarrhea the day you take it and constipates you in the long run…”
At the end of her rant, the 32-year-old star warns fans from taking “diet advice from women who know nothing about nutrition/basic advertising ethics.” She also shared a hilarious video of what dextox teas really do to the body and mind.

They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense “detox” tea. GOD I hope all these celebrities all shit their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do. Not that they actually take this shit. They just flog it because they need MORE MONEY pic.twitter.com/OhmTjjWVOp

Generally just don’t ever take diet advice from women who know nothing about nutrition/basic advertising ethics. IF you want to get healthier, talk to a trainer/doctor. 🙏🏽

My thoughts on this @FlatTummyCo poisonous rhetoric (that is pink and always marketed at young girls) pic.twitter.com/zSvNpm1kaK
