In the future, Alex Trebek will no longer be the face that greets you every weekday evening on ABC’s Jeopardy. In an interview with TMZ, the longtime game show host, 76, said when he retires he has two options in mind for his replacement.
One person is Alex Faust, an announcer for the LA Kings hockey team. The other is legal analyst Laura Coates. The former prosecutor, who’s a professor at George Washington University, a CNN legal analyst, and a SiriusXM host, tweeted her elation at the nomination.
“Incredibly honored & humbled @Jeopardy Alex Trebek 1) knows who I am 2) thinks I’d be a great host of my fave game show ever that I grew up watching w/ my family & still watch w/ my own kids (who saw him say this & now think I’m a genius).” According to The Root, Trebek has two years left on his contract and he’s split down the middle on whether he will resign or step away from the trivia game for good. Trebek has been the host of Jeopardy since 1984.

The self-professed “edutainer” is a graduate of University of Minnesota’s law school and a lecturer at George Washington University. She received her undergrad degree from Princeton University and eventually became a federal prosecutor. The Minnesota native also published a book on knowing your privileges when it comes to the law titled “You Have The Right: A Constitutional Guide To Policing The Police.”
