Recently nominated for her first Grammy from her “MUMBO JUMBO” video, Tierra Whack has made 2018 a year to remember, debuting her critically acclaimed Whack World album. Now the rapper/singer is receiving some major praises from Oxnard rapper/singer, Anderson .Paak.
Interviewed by VIBE during the Billboard Women In Music award ceremony last night (Dec. 6). Whack and .Paak were both presenting awards. However, before the show began, the Aftermath Entertainment musician made an interesting comparison to the “Black Nails” artist and Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott.
“Tierra Whack, that’s just like such a talent man and so smart at how she did it and just really creative in how she did it,” he confessed. “I feel like she’s like the new Missy (Elliot) almost and she’s a Philly native, my pop’s from Philly, just so creative in every aspect. “
Much like the early artistry attributed to Missy Elliot, Tierra Whack’s appeal is absent of the “pu**y” talk commonly associated with female rappers in the industry. A worthy comparison, Whack’s creative direction visually speaks to the essence Elliott has pioneered forward. The 23-year-old’s 15-minute video saga Whack World presents a visual for each of the one-minute songs from her album, showcasing her dynamic vision.
Excited about this career-affirming moment, the go-getter re-tweeted a cute message from 2013, when she was anticipating her future success.
