Angie Martinez is taking her talents to Power 105.
Less than a day after announcing her resignation from Hot 97, “The Voice of New York” has joined its competitor.
Known for being a staple in the hip-hop culture for over 15 years, Martinez has landed interviews with the likes of Jay Z, Kim Kardashian and Derek Jeter. She will be hosting afternoons on Power 105.1 in New York and middays on 103.5 The Beat in Miami, starting in July.
“Angie is the Queen of New York City radio – she is an incredible talent who continues to blaze trails and we are excited to have her join the team at Power 105.1 and The Beat in Miami,” said Thea Mitchem, Senior Vice President of Programming – Major Markets, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, in a statement. “Angie has a long, successful history and we look forward to expanding her distinctive style and compelling content to more of our listeners.”
Martinez added, “I want to thank, Thea Mitchem, Tom Poleman and Doc Wynter for this incredible opportunity. I’m excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months.”
Rumors sparked that she would be joining Power 105 after the Clear Channel station reported her leaving Hot 97 with smiling emojis. Martinez made the official announcement that she would be moving on from Hot 97 on Instagram (June 18), with the quote “Life has to move forward. Everything has its time and everything ends.”
