Apple is one of the leading companies in the game right now and has every intention on keeping it that way.
With the relaunch of Beats music, Apple’s new streaming service, The Verge reports that the tech brand wants major labels to force its competitors like Spotify to get rid of its free listeners. Spotify has 60 million listeners, but only 15 million users actually pay for the service, meaning that if Spotify was solely based off of paid users, they’d only have 45 million users.
However, due to Apple’s abrasive abrasive way of handling business, the Department of Justice is now investigating company and the way they conduct business. A source told The Verge, “All the way up to Tim Cook, these guys are cutthroat.”
With competition from services like TIDAL and Spotify, Apple’s goal is to gain as many new users as possible with Beats Music along with other exclusive content.
