In the 20 years since its inception, Astralwerks Records has been a major player in proliferating two huge waves in musical history, with Electronica in the ‘90s, and more recently with EDM in the 2000s. The label was founded in 1993 as an independent boutique label, and has harnessed the sounds of widely celebrated artists today including Fatboy Slim and the Chemical Brothers. To celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, Astralwerks is announcing the release of a strictly limited edition box set called Astralwerks: Music in 20/20, which has been produced exclusively for Record Store Day on April 20th, 2013,
Having been a musical muscle in the protraction of many artists’ careers in the US, from Kraftwerk and the Pet Shop Boys, to David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, Astralwerks’ release is loaded with sounds from 20 artists over the last 20 years, with 20 songs pressed onto vinyl flexi disks, including exclusives and rarely heard bonus tracks from Air, Diamond Rings, Hot Chip, Kraftwerk, the Kooks, and more of the genre-bending artists that make up their roster.
