Belly claims that he was attacked by more than two dozen security guards in a new lawsuit that the he filed against Coachella organizers, TMZ reports. According to the site, Belly is suing the music festival over an April 2018 beating that left him bruised and nearly unconscious.
The “Might Not” rapper says that the brutal assault was unprovoked, as he was properly credentialed when security attacked him while on his way to a VIP area to watch The Weekend’s performance. The beating, which was caught on video, appears to show multiple Coachella workers repeatedly punching and kicking him. Belly blames the festival for hiring the security company who is also named in the lawsuit.
He reportedly says that he suffered irreversible mental and physical “pain and trauma” as a result of the beating but did not outline a specific dollar amount in potential damages. Belly performed at Coachella the day of the attack and tweeted at the time that he wasn’t going to let any “negative bulls**t” ruin his Coachella experience.
