Former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson made things thoroughly awkward when he let out the real reason why he’s supporting Donald Trump for president. In an interview on The Steve Malzberg Show on Monday, the neurosurgeon explained he wanted to endorse another candidate but was unable to due to the “the politics of personal destruction.”
“I have to look at what is practical and what is going to save this country and the American dream for the next generation,” Carson said. “Is there another scenario that I would have preferred? Yes. But that scenario isn’t available.” The other candidates in questioned happened to be Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. John Kasich but decided to side with Trump, even if it means he doesn’t believe in Trump’s agenda.
“Even if Donald Trump turns out not to be such a great president, which I don’t think is the case — I think he’s going to surround himself with really good people — but even if he didn’t, we’re only looking at four years, as opposed to multiple generations and perhaps the loss of the American dream forever,” Carson said.
He also revealed Trump may have promised him a job in his cabinet for an advisory position. After suggesting the possibility, he quickly denied he was offered a position and decided to discuss Trump paying for a supporters fees after they punched a protestor.
Not only was this extremely awkward, it confirms politics is just as unusual than ever.
