And the Bill Cosby rape allegations controversy continues.
After the most awkward response (or lack thereof) to the resurfacing of the comedian’s supposed rape of over 13 women, Cosby’s lawyer, John P. Schmitt issued a statement yesterday (Nov. 16):
Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.
On Saturday (Nov. 15) Cosby and his wife Camille appeared on NPR’s Weekend Edition Saturday. Host Scott Simon questioned the comedian on his rape allegations, to which Cosby offered no response. According to Schmitt, this will continue to be the way he handles the situation.
An appearance this week by Cosby on the Late Show With David Letterman has been cancelled.
