Not everyone is charmed by all things Beyonce. Controversial political commentator Bill O’Reilly faced off with Russell Simmons about her racy, yet infectious “Partition” video. In an interview on Mediaite, O’Reilly revealed that he was unable to see the art that Simmons saw in it.
The conservative pundit’s issue was that the video that “glorifies having sex in the back of a limousine” sends a bad impression to “girls of color,” especially when unplanned pregnancy is an issue in the black community. When Simmons began a point with, “Bill, if you think that the art that comes out of a community…” he was soon cut off. “That’s art?!” O’Reilly interrupted. “Beyoncé in the back of a limo having sex and referencing Monica Lewinsky, is art?”
“Yeah, it is actually,” Simmons replied. “She’s a brilliant artist. And she’s not only [appreciated] by people of color, as you know, she’s really one of the top artists in the world [to] people of every color.”
“Yeah, she is, and I can’t understand why the woman did it,” O’Reilly countered. Watch the full interview over on Mediaite and if you need a reminder of Bey’s visuals, see below.
