Bobby Shmurda’s first love maybe music, but that isn’t stopping the 21-year-old Brooklyn native from potentially venturing into Hollywood, which is why he’s using his time in New York’s Westchester County Correction facility to write screenplays for two films.
During an interview with Shmurda’s mother, Leslie Pollard said her son has always been an entertainer whether it be mimicking Michael Jackson’s famous dance moves or making others laugh. As Shmurda–real name Ackquille Jean Pollard–await his trial date, Pollard said he’s always admired Will Smith’s transition from music to blockbuster actor and wants to follow that path.
“He loves music but that’s something he was always interested in transitioning to. He loves the whole Will Smith thing. That’s something he’s very interested in, acting,” Pollard said.
Pollard continued and said her son’s film will be a telling of his Gs9 label, which is comprised of his childhood friends, as well as what’s life like for Bobby Shmurda.
“A lot of people don’t know but, the GS9 is his music label, and the guys that are locked up with him, 90 percent of them are childhood friends since he was 4-years-old. He just wants to build a storyline, letting people know where they started, where they came from and how these people are and what they’re doing and what the media is trying to portray them as. He also gave us insight about who, which people he’s going to let play which characters and things of that nature.
Shmurda was arrested Dec. 17, 2014 with other members of his Gs9 crew and hit with a host of charges including reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon. His bail which was set at $2 million but has been repeatedly denied by a judge.
Despite doing her best to stay positive, Pollard said she’s hollow without her son.
“At this point, there’s nothing that I can do. I gave it to God and I know he’s going to come through it, it’s just a matter of waiting it out. Nothing happens before it’s supposed to, so my job as a parent is to make sure he has what he needs and has what he wants to make him comfortable and just to be there for him. Make sure that I can see his face and make sure he’s okay. That’s my job and that’s what I’m going to do from here on out.”
