When Denyque Dontré calls herself a “Supergirl,” please don’t think she’s conceited. This straight-A student and former Rum Cream model could have chosen any path in life, but—inspired by Pink, Alicia Keys, and Jamaican singers like Tessane Chin, Tami Chin, and Alaine—she chose to sing. But don’t let her looks deceive you. Denyque is much more than a pretty face. According to her official MySpace page, the 21-year-old rising star “lives by the quote: ‘Quod Me Nutrit Me Destruit,’ which is Latin for ‘What Nourishes Me also Destroys Me.’ She firmly believes that whatever brings you happiness can also cause you pain.”
Teaming up with Jeremy Harding of 2Hard Music didn’t hurt a bit. Harding’s soundlab was the launching pad for Sean Paul among many others. Harding and Denyque has concocted a bewitching blend of R&B, pop, and just enough yard spice to make it a Certified Boomshot.
By now I’m sure you’re probably hooked, so why not hit up iTunes now?
And stay tuned to Boomshots.com for more heat.
