While many people were rejoicing at the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio might have a chance at snagging an award at the Oscars, Bun B took a step back from the cheering to share a couple of thoughts about the other nominees, or lack thereof. Who knows how he felt about Leo, but in a five-tweet rant, we found out exactly how he felt about Oscar-snuffs from Wiz Khalifa and a couple others.
Wiz Khalifa’s heartfelt single, “See You Again,” and tribute to the late Paul Walker was nominated for Best Song at the Golden Globes. And although the single had racked a couple of awards throughout the last year, it was a shock to many when it didn’t nab an Oscar nod. Bun B in particular, had strong feelings towards the snuff. “Name me a movie that had a song that summoned more emotion from viewers that See You Again. @wizkhalifa was robbed,” Bun tweeted.

But that wasn’t all he had to say. Moving it right along, Bun B pointed out other snuffs from actors, movies, and ultimately the black community. Like most, he was confused as to why “one of the best biopics in years,” Straight Outta Compton was snubbed, as well as Idris Elba in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation.
I don’t even wanna start in on the fact that one of the best biopics in years was snubbed as well. @icecube you and your team were robbed.

I don’t know if it is because it was a Netflix film or that no one in Hollywood cared about the subject matter but @idriselba was robbed.

On the bright side, Bun B did celebrate The Weeknd for his nominated achievement with “Earned It” for Best Original Song and Adam McKay’s nod with The Big Short as Best Picture. But with the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite renewed, Bun B’s rant seems to be coming at a convenient time. Check out his tweets below.
I am super happy for @theweeknd for his nomination though. He absolutely deserves his nomination. And the success that followed as well.

The Big Short deserves to be in the running for best film. Adam McKay has finally been given the credit he so dearly deserves.
