After 8 years with E!, Chelsea Handler will part ways with the television network when her contract expires this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her manager, Irving Azoff confirmed to the website that Handler is working on an exit strategy ahead of schedule.
“Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires,” he told THR. “She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.”
As far as what’s next for the late night TV host, Azoff says Handler is flirting with the ideas of another nightly or late-night show with another network or digital company, or a radio show. She is also eyeing more freedom of content.
“I don’t want to be on a regular network. If I do a show, I want to get away with what I get away with,” she told USA Today. “I use language because that’s how I am in real life.”

Handler, who is the only female late night TV host in America, has been expressive of her discontent with E!, calling the network “a sad, sad place to live” in an interview with Howard Stern, adding “They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”
E! did not elaborate on its dealings with Handler to THR, only confirming that the late night host is nearing her contract’s end.
“Chelsea has nine months left on her contract and E! will not comment on the future of Chelsea Lately at this time,” reps said.
