The #OscarsSoWhite controversy has had its fair share of famous names throwing their hats into the conversation, including the Smiths, Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya and Spike Lee. Comedian Dave Chappelle took it one step further by inviting the show’s host Chris Rock to his standup set at Club Bahia in L.A.’s Echo Park to hear his true feelings, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
Although 50 Cent and Tyrese Gibson have urged Rock to step down from his hosting duties, the Top 5 actor is sticking around, but will address the issue of diversity in Hollywood at the event. He also poked fun at the issue with Chappelle during his Jan. 21 set.
A source at the event reportedly said that Rock told Chappelle and the crowd that there are much more important things to worry about than the Oscars’ race problem, such as his impending divorce. He also said that if he stepped down as host, the Academy would be fast to replace him.
“They’d just get Jamie Foxx to do the job,” he was quoted as saying.
We’re glad to see that the two can make light of a sticky situation.
