Famed comedian Chris Rock might take center stage at the Oscars next year. According to Variety, the Top Five actor’s name was up for consideration, but no definite selection has been made yet.
This will potentially be Rock’s second time hosting the Academy Awards since he graced the stage in 2005. It’s also reported that he has a solid working relationship with the Oscar’s co-producer Reginald Hudlin. The pair worked on the Brooklyn native’s hit television show Everybody Hates Chris 10 years ago.
An official announcement confirming who’ll fulfill the hosting gig is set to arrive soon, but until then check out Rock’s hilarious opening monologue from his 2005 appearance below.
UPDATE:
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Chris Rock will grace the Oscars stage as a host for the second time. The 88th Academy Awards will air on Feb. 28 on ABC.
