
On Wednesday afternoon (April 12), the world was rocked by the news of Charlie Murphy’s shocking death. The cause for the 57-year-old’s passing was due to a battle with leukemia and according to TMZ, Murphy passed away during a round of chemotherapy in New York City.
One of the comedic genius’ last tweets also administered a somber message:
One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible.

The news prompted a wave of fond memories of Murphy from his iconic Chappelle’s Show skits to his roles in films like The Players Club, Harlem Nights, Jungle Fever and more. Those part of Murphy’s comedic world and the entertainment industry also voiced their condolences on social media.
