News hit this week that the only child of the late, great Whitney Houston and “My Prerogative” rapper Bobby Brown tied the knot. Bobbi Kristina Brown, 20, officially wed Nick Gordon in the new year and announced the news with an Instagram photo of their unity bling and the hashtag #HappilyMarried. News outlets were quick to point out that Gordon was the informally adopted child of Houston, making this one controversial nuptial. Bobbi Kristina, the sole heir to her mother’s estate, denied the rumors in a Facebook message for her haters. Turns out that the couple, who have been rumored engaged since 2012, also had the blessing of the late Cissy Houston, her grandmother and gospel legend, in her own right. (Ironic considering Bobbi Kristina tumultuous relationship with her grandmother in the past.) “We saw her at out cousin’s Sweet 16 and she gave us our blessing,” Gordon, with Bobbi Kristina in tow told TMZ of Cissy Houston’s blessing. When the paparazzo coyly asked both if their mother would be happy about the marriage, they jointly replied: “This is what she wanted.” Bobbi Kristina is also planning a ceremony and recording music for 2014. “Don’t think 4 a sec that a ceremony isn’t in store this year …!? They’re will be a wedding & a gorgeous1at that (: #nomoredetailstho” she tweeted to her 130,000 Twitter followers.

While Cissy Houston has given her reported blessing, one person still to give his thoughts on the union is Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown.
