Ice Cube and Common will lead a panel regarding gun violence in Chicago’s South Side for a VH1 special Behind The Movie: ‘Exploring Chicago with the Cast of ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut. The special is an upcoming series hosted by Sway Calloway, which aims to show the intersectionality of pop culture and social issues in America. Barbershop: The Next Cut, which hits theaters April 15, also touches on gun violence and related issues.
According to the Chicago Tribune, “college students and grassroots organizers discussed challenges of living in the city at the town hall, which was held March 14 at the Illinois Institute of Technology.”
The special will air Monday, Apr. 11 on Vh1. Rapper Vic Mensa, Black Ink Crew: Chicago‘s Ryan Henry and some more stars of the Barbershop films will make appearances in the episode.
