Rihanna’s loyal fanbase, whom she affectionately dubbed The Navy, always has her back. However, there are some “fans” who take things too far. Last week, Salmir Feratovic was arrested for trespassing outside of the singer’s New York City apartment.
The 33-year-old lurker pled guilty to criminal trespass and prosecutors wanted him behind bars for five days. The judge agreed but Feratovic was released Wednesday for time served. (May 24) According to TMZ, Feratovic spoke to reporters and said his brief stint in jail hasn’t detered him from trying to make contact with the Anti singer.
Feratovic showed up at Rihanna’s home twice in 2016 and was thankfully stopped by the doorman. The second time police were called and it was discovered Feratovic had a knife on him. He alleges it was for his own protection and he wasn’t going to hurt Rihanna.
If Rihanna is frightened or worried, she isn’t showing it. The bad gyal has been stylishly sashaying around New York City. The 29-year-old was just honored at the Parsons School of Design for her charitable efforts and spoke extensively about encouraging millennials.
“You should be celebrated for every aspect of your growth and your growing pains. You should be celebrated for your creativity, for your fearlessness, for your persistence and determination,” she said. “You should be celebrated for all the effort that you put into building your future, for being different, for not being given enough credit…we often tear our youth down when we should be building them up. At the end of the day, our future is in their hands.”
