British band Gentleman’s Dub Club is nine more reasons you should be excited for Outlook Festival. Formed in Leeds in 2006 with dub, ska, and reggae roots, the 9-piece dub band rose to prominence and toured relentlessly over the years thanks to a unique sound combing tight grooves and heavyweight instrumentation. They are playing on the main stage this year and always do since Outlook’s founder, is Gentleman’s Dub Club’s singer, Jonathan Scratchley. The crew took a minute to sit down with VIBE to talk Outlook.

Which acts are you most looking forward to catching if you have time?
There are so many stories from the line-up this year it’s hard to choose. Anthony B is one of our idols, he’s so good live. We’ve grown up listening to Mos Def, The Pharcyde, Capleton, LTJ Bukum, Goldie, and Andy C! In terms of new acts RL Grime, Machinedrum, XXYYXX and Rustie will be really exciting to see. They are all pushing the electronic envelope so at Outlook it’s going to be exciting to see what they can achieve. And of course the mighty Todd Edwards, his sound over the years has made such a big impression on electronic music, especially in the UK scenes we’ve grown up in.
Latest or upcoming release we should pay attention to?
We’ve got an album out in October this year called 44, and the lead single from it is out at the end of July called “Give it Away”; we’ve also just finished shooting the video and I highly recommend keeping a eye out for it.
