Rapper CupcakKe is reportedly in the care of hospital staff after an alarming tweet about committing suicide was sent last night (Jan. 7). The 21-year-old Chicago MC (real name Elizabeth Harris) also posted the tweet on her Instagram page with the accompanying caption, “Thank you for everything y’all have done for me, I really appreciate it.” She was reportedly scheduled to perform in Birmingham last night as part of her Eden Tour; the dates have been pushed to March.
Comedian Elijah Daniel urged anyone who had the “Blackjack” rapper’s contact information to attempt to get in touch with her. Daniel stated that he tried to contact her multiple times to no avail. However, once he discovered that she was headed to the hospital, he alerted concerned fans via social media.
“Chicago Police got to Elizabeth’s place and she has been taken to a hospital,” he wrote. “ive never felt so relieved and sad at the same time, @CupcakKe_rapper i love you more than you’ll ever know. you’re one of the sweetest souls ive ever had the pleasure of knowing, and you’re not leaving us. we won’t let it happen.”
An outpouring of support from musicians such as Charli XCX, Iggy Azalea and AJA have been sent the rapper’s way. If you or someone is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
UPDATE: Chicago Police got to Elizabeth’s place and she has been taken to a hospital. I don’t have any further information beyond that, but will update when i do.
