On Saturday evening (March 7), DaBaby made headlines for his actions during a tour stop in Tampa, Florida. The “Intro” rapper reportedly slapped a woman who had her phone directly in front of his face with its light on. Now, he’s publicly shared a video to express his remorse.
“I’m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone,” he said. “But you know, keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you got the flash this close to me. Which is okay, it’s no problem. A lot of people did, they didn’t put it as close as you put it, but a lot of people had flash on me, and that’s okay. That’s what I signed up for.” The North Carolina native then said fans should zoom in instead of coming too close to him with their smartphones. “But I do apologize that there was a female on the other end,” he said.
TMZ notes the woman has sought assistance from lawyers. “Morgan & Morgan has been retained to represent the interests of Tyronesha Laws,” the statement reads. “Ms. Laws has received DaBaby’s Instagram message. We look forward to speaking with Mr. Kirk.”
It has not been stated if the woman will press charges.
