When hip-hop mogul Damon Dash abandoned his upstate estate, he apparently left a lasting impression. According to new court documents, Dash left behind a mess, including items such as bongs, dirty laundry, jewelry and artwork, according to new court documents.
Page Six reports that the co-founder of Roc-a-fella Records skipped out on on rental payments of $15,000 a month, owing a total of $162,000. The landlord’s lawyer, Thomas Mullaney, told The Post that Dash “held the house hostage” for a year and a half.
“Mr. Dash simply abandoned the property,” owner Elad Yoran said in his lawsuit filed in Putnam County, claiming that the space was a wreck with clothes tossed across the floor and ruined carpets.
Back in May, Dash, who made a fortune partnering with Jay Z on the record label and clothing company Rocawear, revealed that he owed more than $2 million in New York state taxes.
“The drumbeat of debt has made it not only nearly impossible for me to maintain my businesses,” Dash wrote. “They have caused me to fall far behind on my personal expenses.”
Dash was also deep in dept due to child-support payments, cashing out $24,000 every three months to his two children with ex-wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy.
