Record-breaking comedian Dave Chappelle stands firm behind some of his most controversial statements, but it looks like he had a change of heart concerning Donald Trump.
According to Okayplayer, Chappelle decided to renege on a comment he made in November 2016 when he asked the American people to give the president a chance. “And I’m going to give him a chance,” Chappelle said to the Saturday Night Live audience, “and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he gives us one too.”
In the present time, the 43-year-old entertainer decided to express his regret for the aforementioned remarks during a stand-up routine at the Robin Hood benefit event in New York City on Monday night (May 15). The organization seeks to combat poverty in the Big Apple.
“I was the first guy on TV to say ‘Give Trump a chance.’ I fu**ed up. Sorry,” he said.
