Wiz Khalifa has had a great year and it keeps getting better as The Pittsburg City Council deemed December 12th ‘Wiz Khalifa Day.’ The council honored Khalifa for his continuous efforts in promoting the city through his music. Wiz’s fiancée and mom to be Amber Rose, his mother and grandfather happily looked on as Wiz accepted the prestigious honor.
The “Black and Yellow” rapper humbly accepted the award by saying, “Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. It means a lot to me,” said Wiz. “Even when I moved around when I was younger, everywhere I went, I told people I was from Pittsburgh. To come so far and to represent and to have everybody be proud of me and happy that I’m doing so well, I don’t even feel like I’m doing the greatest. I could do better and better. But with your guys’ support, I think I could be the best ever.”
Khalifa, whose new album O.N.I.F.C. debuted at No. 2 this week, wasn’t born in Pittsburgh as he lived in different cities across the country and overseas as a child he stated that he always claimed Pittsburgh as his home.
Khalifa’s mother and grandfather were also honored and received proclamations from the city. Wiz later took to his Twitter to thank everyone and a special message for his stoner fans.
“First of all i wanna thank my grandfather Jibril Abdul-Hafith for bein an amazing person and the awesome things he does for the community,” tweeted Wiz, “I also wanna thank the city of Pittsburgh for making 12-12 ‘Wiz Khalifa Day’ in the burgh. Get stoned :-)”
We’re sure Wiz and the entire cityPittsburgh lit a few doobies in celebration of this momentous occasion.
