The search for a missing 15-year-old girl came to a dark conclusion on Tuesday morning (Nov. 28). According to The Root, Sabriya McLean was found dead in Philadelphia, Penn., after she met-up with a man she encountered on Facebook.
The suspect, Cole Swaringer-Herring, stabbed the New Castle, Del., teen 80 times and set her body on fire. WPVI-TV states McLean’s body was found in West Philadelphia buried under a pile of leaves. Swaringer-Herring reportedly told his parents, who were away at the time of McLean’s death, of his crime, prompting them to call the police. The motive is still unknown.
“It was a very violent act so we’re looking at him in connection to some other possible cases that we’ve had,” Homicide Capt. Jack Ryan told reporters.
Swaringer-Herring, 23, has been charged with murder and arson.
