Dennis Graham, Drake‘s father, spoke with Variety to promote his latest single “That On That.” During the Q&A, the outspoken Graham discussed the recent controversies surrounding R. Kelly and Empire‘s Jussie Smollett. Graham defended the two, stating that they are his friends and he supports them no matter what.
“He’s a good friend of mine,” said Graham of R. Kelly, who was charged with 10 counts of criminal aggravated sexual abuse last week (Feb. 22). “I wish him the best. I hate that it’s happening to him. There’s a reason why women come out after the fact. He has my support 100%.”
As for Smollett, who is being accused of allegedly filing a false police report after claiming he was attacked by Trump supporters in Chicago, Graham says that the actor and singer is just “misunderstood.”
“As a matter of fact, they know that,” Graham continues. “That story that came out about Jussie in Chicago is not true about Jussie. Jussie is a friend of mine, also. They have totally reconstructed his story.”
Dennis Graham has been no stranger to voicing his opinion on hot-button topics, such as the #MeToo movement and Pusha T’s beef with his son. He also said that he had “no idea” what was going on regarding his son’s child, Adonis.
