Only Denzel Washington can drop gems of mindfulness while addressing a meme.
Speaking with Global Grind‘s BlogXilla Tuesday (Sept. 13,) the legendary actor made sure he shared the right amount of advice after many mocked his Winnfield-like mustache. For those who have drowned in the comedy of the all mighty meme, Washington and his ‘stache made their debut last May during the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight in Las Vegas. While in the presence of guests like Jay Z and Beyonce, photographers snapped a goofy pic of the actor, thus birthing “Uncle Denzel” to the masses.

Even after it was revealed the look was tied to his character in the upcoming film, The Magnificent Seven, the jokes continued to fly. Unbothered, Washington jumped into “Uncle Denzel” mode to drop some good old fashioned TED Talk advice. “They didn’t know what I was doing,” Washington said. “They don’t need to know. Those who can, do. Those who can’t do talk about those who can. Now can you, or can you not? Are you just one that sits on the sideline to talk about other people, or can you step up?”
Washington is hip to the internet culture, sort of. In December 2015, the actor was taught how to work his phone’s camera by Tyrese and Drake.

At least we know there’s a little bit of “Uncle Denzel” in the actor after all. The Magnificent Seven opens in theaters Sept. 23.
