A Detroit news anchor named Lauren Podell resigned from her position after news broke in at the television station that she used the n-word.
According to Blac Detroit, Podell, 31, told one of her colleagues that she was “tired of reporting on these n*ggers killing one another in Detroit.” Her resignation was confirmed in a company-wide email that also made its way to Twitter.
The news station’s Vice President/ General Manager Marla Drutz wrote, “I wanted to let you know that Lauren Podell has resigned from WDIV effective immediately. Lauren asked me to convey the following: ‘During my time at WDIV I have created many friendships that I will continue to cherish.'”

Rev. W.J. Rideout, who lead a protest outside of WDIV’s studios in Detroit calling for a boycott of the station, said that Podell needs to really think before she speaks.
“She is a news reporter and supposed to be concerned about the community,” he explained. “If you’re going to work with black people, Latinos, Jews, what have you, you’re supposed to be able to work without bias.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Podell’s word choice got her into trouble. According to The Mirror, Podell made headlines in 2013 for dropping the f-bomb live during a report when she had technical difficulties.
Podell hasn’t commented on the controversy, and her social media pages are currently unavailable.
