When Volkswagen premiered their “Get Happy” Super Bowl commercial a few days before the big game, a lot of people were taken aback with the use of Jamaican patois by a caucasian white-collar worker. While some called it racist, the commercial still went live yesterday night with reactions that were, for the most part, the total opposite. The ad—which has been viewed more than 7 million times since being posted on Jan. 27th—shows a white American from Minnesota speaking Jamaican patois while trying to cheer up his colleagues, set to the tune of Jimmy Cliff’s rendition of “C’mon, Get Happy.” The commercial has even gotten approval by Jamaica’s tourism Minister Wykeham McNeill, who stated via AP, “I think this is a very creative commercial which truly taps into the tremendous appeal that brand Jamaica and its hospitable people have globally.” Here’s a few Twitter reactions:

The people who are upset about the AD should watch the video. The white guy is talking about you. Turn that frown, upside down.#vw
