Many have heard of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but what happens when a Greek proposal comes to life?
After Elon University’s commencement ceremony over the weekend, the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. gathered around Adrian Williams for a traditional stroll, but with a surprise ending. With all of Williams and now-fiancé, Bria Turner’s family already in attendance, Williams swiftly dropped down on bended knee to propose a lifetime with Bria Turner.
“Me being the type of person I am, I wanted to make sure that her family was there and my family and I know that she wanted to everybody to be there as well,” Williams told Fox8 News. The Omega Psi Phi brother also admits that he didn’t actually ask. “I just got down and I grabbed her hand and said, ‘Look, I know you’re not going to say no.’ And we just rocked with it.”
But the couple never expected the overwhelming response to such an intimate moment. Since a recording of the proposal was posted to Facebook Saturday (May 20), the post has received nearly 3 million views and counting. There’s also a second video circulating that has received 800,000 views in addition to more than 12,000 shares.
Bria Turner graduated last year in 2016 from the same university as a former track athlete and currently works as a case manager for a community service agency. Williams graduated with a degree in Strategic Communications and will work in Lenovo’s Accelerates Sales Rotational program next month.
The couple intends to wed this year.
Congrats!
