Young Thug has received praises from a few names throughout the rap realm including Andre 3000 and Kanye West. But it looks like his prowess within the music industry has reached the sights of a certain global icon.
In an interview with Noisey, Elton John revealed that he’s a fan of the Atlanta based rapper, stating that Young Thug caught his attention after he heard one of his songs play on Beats 1. The melody, however, is unspecified. “I heard a track on Beats 1 and I loved it so much,” the “Bennie & The Jets” vocalist said. “But he’s got himself into trouble, hasn’t he?”
Thug’s “trouble” probably stemmed from his arrest earlier this year after a warrant stated he incited terroristic threats. The incident occurred in Dunwoody, Ga., when the “Best Friend” rapper was asked by a mall security guard, Chris May, to leave the premise. Reportedly, the 24-year-old’s arrest warrant stated, “the accused threatened to shoot the victim in the face with the purpose of terrorizing Mr. Chris May.”
John didn’t dwell on Thugger’s legal past, but instead focused on his fashion. The award-winning artist backed Thug’s unique clothing decisions, saying, “I love all of that, it’s unexpected. I remember when Blind Faith came out, with a nude girl and John & Yoko, you had to buy it in a black plastic bag. And you should be able to do things like that but we don’t live in that kind of world anymore.”
