“Once heavily associated with bad ass dudes that ride motorcycles, being tatted up has become a huge part of hip hop culture with very few us having any real clue of its history and what it really takes to be able to call yourself a “TATTOO ARTIST.”
VIBE and Fashion Institute of Technology’s Black Student Union and Art Awareness & Appreciation Club present Color Outside The Lines—a documentary that explores the history of the Black tattoo artist, the art and intricacies of tattooing, and it’s lifestyle and cultural impacts on society.
Moderated by VIBE.com’s Online Style Editor Keenan Higgins, the screening will be followed by a discussion with a few guest panelists, including the film’s director Artemus Jenkins, songwriter & recording artist Spree Wilson, and Spike TV’s Ink Master Al Fliction.
The event is free (with a RSVP), so come out & enjoy some light refreshments while taking in some art culture of the ink variety.
