Just hours before Bobby Shmurda was slapped with new charges, he was being offered a helping hand by Flavor Flav. The legendary Public Enemy member and former VH1 reality star appeared on the Brooklyn rapper’s Instagram page with a message stating that he was on his way to post Bobby’s bail.
“Ay yo, Shmurda. Flavor Flav. We coming to get you out, baby,” Flav said in the short clip. “We in the bank right now, B, we got dough.”

The New York Daily News reports that Flavor Flav’s offering came just before Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, incurred new charges after attempting to smuggle a sharp object into prison. The rapper faces up to seven additional years behind bars for charges that include perjury for lying about the incident as well as “felony and misdemeanor charges for promoting prison contraband.” A second snag in Flav’s plans may have been his own DUI charge, which he was hit with this week after an arrest last May.
Shmurda has been in police custody since December 2014. He and his G29 squad face a slew of charges that include conspiracy to commit murder, weapons charges. He remains jailed on $2 million bail.
