The 2010 North American International Auto Show was held in Detroit last week. And if you’re not familiar, it’s a little like the CES of cars. Different carmakers attend and show off cars they’ve got coming out, cars they hope they’ve got coming out one day and cars that will probably never come out—but look cool anyway. That said, the cool thing about the NAIAS is that you don’t even have to like to drive, want to drive or know how to drive in order to enjoy looking at some of the next-generation cars revving up their engines and getting ready to hit the road. Sometimes, it’s more fun to just stand back and see how—somehow—cars have gone from this to this in only about 100 years. And while we’re guessing the best is still yet to come (flying cars, anyone?), there was plenty to get excited about at this year’s NAIAS. Just check out these seven next-generation cars to see what we mean. ––Chris Yuscavage
