Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have been very visible publicly lately…just not together. Today the couple, who began dating in 2002 and married late in 2003, announced that they have decided to make a “conscious uncoupling,” per a joint update from the pair on Paltrow’s website GOOP.
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” Paltrow and Martin’s statement reads. “We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.”
Gwyneth most recently had returned to Glee, reprising her role as Holly Holiday in last week’s milestone 100th episode of the musical dramedy. The episode is a two-parter, the second part of which airs tonight (March 25) on Fox.
