A gunman who opened fire in a Houston shopping center Monday (Sept. 26) has been shot dead by police after injuring nine people, the New York Daily News reports.
A call around 6:30 a.m. was sent to more than 15 EMS crews in the area after they received reports of gunshots near a Petco in southwest Houston near Rice University. Six of the injured people were sent to a nearby hospital–one was listed in critical condition–while one is in serious condition and one is in fair condition. Three shooting victims were treated at the scene.
The “disgruntled” active shooter, whose name has not been released, is reported to have been a lawyer at a nearby firm who either had issues with his place of employment or was fired at the time of his death. There were several weapons found in his car, according to the Houston Police. According to a witness, over 100 shots were heard, and there was “steady” shooting between police and the subject.
