Ana Segovia, 31, and her three daughters were at a Houston car wash Sunday evening when she reportedly tried to set her car on fire by revving the engine until it caught fire. Law enforcement has her in custody, according to CBS. Bystanders were rescuing her three daughters (ages 9, 11 and 13) when they heard Segovia say, “We’re going to see Jesus.” Houston police say she took the nine-year-old and tried to escape by foot but was later caught by Harris County police.
The children are safe and sound with relatives, but the mother has been charged with aggravated assault on a family member, and a mental health evaluation is pending. It is unknown who will represent Segovia in court, according to FOX 61.
Three other children in Kentucky suffered the same abuse in Kentucky. Earlier this month Louisville police claim a woman set her home on fire while her three children were upstairs. She’s facing charges of arson and wanton endangerment. According to Child Welfare, 702,000 children suffered abuse in 2014, 79 percent of those suffer from neglect while 18 percent suffer physical abuse.
