While you’re chasing your dreams you still have to tend to your reality, which seems to be the case for Charlie, a once massive DJ who lost his way and is trying to desperatley accomplish his goals.
Played by the Renaissance Man himself, Idris Elba, Turn Up Charlie features the Golden Globe award-actor trying to figure it out. While DJing a Nigerian wedding he runs into an old friend who’s married to a world-famous D.J. (Piper Perabo.) A few days later, Charlie gets a call about working with his wife, only to discover it’s not about music, it’s about being a nanny for her kid.
Suddenly Charlie’s dished a whopping helping of humble pie. The two-minute teaser shows the sexiest man alive in a comedic, often awkward light, which is new for the 46-year-old actor.

While Charlie may be an unsuccessful 40 year 0ld D.J., Elba spoke to Ellen DeGeneres Wednesday (Feb. 27) about DJing at Prince Harry’s wedding and the disbelief he experienced at the initial ask.
Turn Up Charlie is just one of the many projects Elba has under his sleeve. His first directed film Yardie has received a U.S. release date and soon fans will hear him spin in the desert at this year’s Coachella Music Festival.
