It looks like we won’t be sitting on any Yeezy couches anytime soon, as Kanye West’s dreams to become the next great furniture designer were dashed by home decor giant IKEA.
After revealing in a BBC Radio One interview on Aug. 1 that he would love to work with IKEA for furniture design and home decor, a spokesperson for the company wrote that while they were “flattered by Kanye West’s high interest” in working with them, they did not intend to “collaborate at this point in time.”
However, IKEA Australia posted a mock-up of what an Ikanye collabo could look like, implying that they could make him “famous.”
“I have to work with IKEA—make furniture for interior design, for architecture and I know that if I do a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm where the TV goes on the side of the wall,” West said in the interview. “Yo IKEA, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes—I want more products from Ye.”
