“When I come to America to perform I do my entire catalog. In Jamaica you have to stick to the new songs. It’s kind of different,” the King of Dancehall, Beenie Man tells VIBE about his recent performances in New York City. This past Memorial Day Weekend, the Jamaican star hit the Big Apple to perform several concerts. Rocking the mic for over 20 years, Beenie Man is both a veteran of the stage and the studio.
“Yes, the EP is the warm-up for the album. From there, we choose which one we’re gong to use as a single, then we put the single out. Then we put the album out,” Beenie Man tells VIBE abotu his upcoming release. “It has a lot of features and different producers, but I don’t like to talk about the features and producers until the album is actually coming out. ”
While the singer is hard at work on a new LP for 2014, Beenie says he isn’t ready to give up an official release date or title yet. However, he does promise that his next album will be packed full of A-list features, including a special R&B song.
“I’d really like to do an song with Monica this album because she has been my R&B artist forever, but we have never did a song together. So, I’m going to try to reach out to her and get her on this album,” says Beenie Man.
