Isiah Thomas is a legendary basketball player in his own right, but when word hit 20 years ago that he would not be on 1992 USA Olympic Basketball team, numerous rumors surfaced that he had been intentionally left off, some concerning fellow baller, Michael Jordan.
As the 20th Anniversary of the “Dream Team” approaches, the former Pistons point guard has been dodging questions concerning the 20 year-old rumors, but released a statement via his Twitter account yesterday (June 13), after NBA TV aired the The Dream Team documentary.
Check out what he had to say below:
“Today, like all Americans, I congratulate the Dream Team on their anniversary,” he wrote. “I am proud of my career in the NBA and have fond memories of going head to head with all the members of the Team. I can’t speak to the selection process as I wasn’t involved. But 20 years later, their gold medal is still a momentous achievement.”
