Along with Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actor, Jamie Foxx can now add “hero” to his resume. Foxx reportedly saved a driver from a burning car after an accident occurred near his Los Angeles home, ABC News reports.
According to TMZ, the incident happened at 8:30 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 18). The vehicle reportedly slid off a wet road and flipped upside down after hitting a ditch. The actor then acted quickly to remove the driver from the overturned car. Witnesses stated that Foxx told authorities he feared the car would explode, so he unbuckled the driver’s seat belt and dragged him about 30 feet away from the car. He reportedly called 911 before taking action.
“Jamie didn’t hesitate. He jumped out and ran to the car,” a rep for the actor told ABC.
Police statements did not name Foxx in the incident, but disclosed that the 32-year-old driver was under the influence. “Two witnesses that were near the collision scene ran to the burning, overturned truck in an attempt to free the driver,” authorities said, later noting he was “arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.”
Now all Jamie Foxx needs is his theme music. The crash is still under investigation.
