For those of you that were ready to clap on Jessie J and Ariana Grande for that “The Boy Is Mine” remake, good news: you can put your weapons down. While on the red carpet at the 2014 American Music Awards, the British singer denied any involvement in ruining a reboot of the classic Brandy and Monica built.
“No, it’s not true, neither of us have agreed,” Jessie told Mirror UK. “Sadly people are believing it. I spoke to Brandy and I was like, ‘no it’s not happening’. Monica and Brandy are the best.”

Earlier this month, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins told Hits Daily Double that he was revisiting hits for a special 20th anniversary project. Citing Jessie J and Grande’s possible involvement, the Internet rose up in protest of the notion (including us).
“Next year is my 20-year anniversary and I’m doing a very special project. Some originals as well as reimagined hits,” he said. “So for example, I’ll do the ‘The Boy Is Mine’ with Ariana and Jessie J.”
But thankfully, it seems we can all woo-sah. For now.
