Washington Wizards star John Wall mourned the loss of six-year-old Damiyah “Miyah” Telemaque-Nelson, a cancer patient whom he befriended last year. Dedicating his game against Boston Celtics to her, Wall and the Wizards won in double overtime 133-132. After raking in 26 points and 17 assists, Wall as unable to contain his emotions during his post game interview. “This was an emotional game for me,” he said. “This is for Miyah, one of my close friends who I lost that I met last year and it’s just tough man. To see a little kid that fights so hard for cancer and can’t beat it, this game is for her. My jersey, my shorts I’m going to give to her family. It’s a tough day for me.” Earlier this year, Wall helped Miyah have a wish granted to meet Nicki Minaj. Enacting the #PinkWig4Miyah hashtag, Wall got Nicki’s attention and Miyah was flown out to meet the YMCMB rapstress herself.
