There should never be a reason to infuriate Kate Upton But the blonde bombshell, who rose to fame after two Sports Illustrated covers and shaking it on YouTube, is reportedly at odds with Victoria’s Secret for using images of her in their latest catalog.
“Kate is not thrilled Victoria’s Secret is using these photos. She is not contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret and was not notified before the images, taken in 2011, were used,” a source told The Daily Mail.
Splashing old images of Upton in their pages seems odd for VS, whose talent booker Sophia Neophitoun slammed the model by saying they “would never use her” because she has a look that is “too obvious.”
“She’s like a Page 3 girl,” Neophitou told The New York Times last April, referencing to the scantily clad voluptuous women featured in Brit tabloid The Sun. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”
Still, the harsh words have no effect on the Florida native’s popularity, who has scored the June 2013 cover of Vogue, was named the spokeswoman for Gillette and has even been romantically linked to Diddy.
“She’s not furious, she’s just not thrilled about it, and the reason is that she’s not contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret,” a spokesperson close to the model told WWD. “The way it unravelled so quickly left a bad taste in her mouth.”
So does this mean no chance for Upton to spread her wings as a future Angel? “As of right now, it’s untrue. She has no plans to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel,” the reps said. “As far as I know, there are no discussions.”
